Target: Stephanie Harris, Campaign Director of Citizens for Farm Animal Protection
Goal: Praise Massachusetts for ending extreme confinement of farm animals.
Massachusetts citizens recently had a chance to help improve the lives of farm animals throughout the state and the support was overwhelming. Seventy-eight percent of voters agreed that animals raised for meat, dairy and eggs should have enough room to fully extend their limbs, turn around and fully stand.
Unfortunately, throughout the nation farm animals are kept in tiny cages, like gestation crates and veal crates, where animals are so tightly confined they can barely stand and cannot turn around. What seem like basic rights have been denied to animals for years.
Sign this petition and thank Massachusetts for taking this giant step forward in improving the lives of the animals abused for food.
Dear Ms. Harris,
Recently, Massachusetts had the chance to improve the lives of farm animals by ending extreme confinement. Thankfully, Massachusetts citizens overwhelmingly agreed that extreme confinement for farm animals is cruel and needs to be done away with, with nearly 80 percent of voters agreeing that living conditions need to improve.
As you know, animals across the nation are forced into small cages like gestation crates and veal crates. While stuck in these cages, the animals are barely able to move. Thankfully, more and more people are realizing just how cruel it is to treat farm animals this way.
Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into getting this question on the ballot and your subsequent efforts to make sure it passed. It is inspiring to see so many people working together to help animals. I can only hope more states follow in your footsteps.
