Success: FBI Puts Clinton Email Controversy to Rest

Target: James Comey, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations

Goal: Thank FBI for working to clear up suspicion over new batch of Clinton emails.

Concerning a letter to Congress revealing that the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails had been reopened, James Comey finally released an additional statement just days before the election clearing up the confusion he caused across America. Comey broke protocol by releasing judiciary information related to a political candidate within 60 days of an election, leaving the Justice Department no choice but to demand that the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) make sifting through these new emails their top priority. Thanks to bipartisan lawmakers and outrage from citizens, like those who signed this ForceChange petition, most Americans got to vote knowing the truth about the investigation.

Six hundred and fifty thousand emails were confiscated from the computer of former congressmen Anthony Weiner, who is being investigated for allegations of sexting with a minor. Weiner is married to one of Clinton’s aides with whom he shared a laptop. Naturally, emails from Clinton appeared on the device, but Comey made an announcement before knowing if any case-altering information was actually present. By releasing this information, he may have affected the outcome of the election, and many believed he was playing into the hands of the Republican candidate.

Many do not believe that the FBI could have possibly sorted through all the materials so quickly. A senior law enforcement official stated most of the emails involving Clinton were either duplicates of ones they had reviewed before or just personal emails. Teams of specialists worked around the clock to analyze the emails, and released their decision as soon as possible so as not to be criticized for suppressing information. Sign this petition to thank Comey for revealing details into the Clinton email investigation before the election.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Comey,

I am writing to thank you and your department for working to get through the Hillary Clinton emails found on Anthony Weiner’s computer. Your decision to tell Congress about the new discovery of emails in the first place went against protocol and may have majorly effected the outcome of the election. It is a basic rule that you not reveal information related to a political figure’s investigation so close to an election, and even the Justice Department recommended that you keep the information internal.

Democratic senators are now asking for a hearing so they can look at the way you handled this critical information. Fueling the alt-right and other anti-Clinton efforts with news of your investigation made it seem like you were playing into Trump’s hands, and many were relieved once the outcome of your analysis was released. Thank you for revealing information about the emails as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
