Remove Dog from Owner Who Allegedly Tattooed its Face

Target: Michel Temer, President of Brazil

Goal: Investigate man accused of repeatedly tattooing a dog’s face and ears.

Tattoo artist Emerson Damasceno allegedly tattooed his pit bull terrier with a large tattoo along the bridge of his nose, several underneath his eyes, and more inside his ears. Each spot is a highly sensitive area that likely caused the dog serious pain. An animal cannot consent to this kind of cosmetic procedure, so it is incredibly cruel to subject any animal to pain for esthetic reasons.

He posted pictures of the dog on social media, although after receiving a lot of negative comments he deleted his posts. He claims that he thought the symbols tattooed on the dog would protect the dog from cancer. It is obvious that tattoos cannot prevent cancer, but they could lead to complications like infection. He says that he took the dog to a veterinary school before he tattooed the dog, but the veterinary school said that this was a lie.

At this point it is unclear if the police are investigating this man. He should be held accountable for inflicting this cruelty upon this poor dog. Sign this petition to urge the police to investigate Damasceno for animal cruelty and to ensure that this dog is protected from his owner.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Temer,

It is great that Brazil has included the protection of animals in its constitution. Unfortunately, there are those who do not follow this section of your constitution. This includes Emerson Damasceno from Poços de Caldas, who posted pictures of his dog after he allegedly covered the animal’s face with tattoos.

The pictures show the young dog with a large tattoo along the bridge of his nose, underneath his eyes, and inside of his ears. Each spot is a highly sensitive area that likely caused the dog serious pain. An animal cannot consent to this kind of cosmetic procedure, so it is incredibly cruel to subject any animal to pain for cosmetic reasons.

Damasceno claims that he thinks the tattoos will prevent the dog from getting cancer, and that he took the dog to a veterinary school before applying the tattoos. The veterinary school says this is false.

For putting his dog through this painful procedure, Damasceno should be investigated for cruelty to animals and his dog should be placed in a new home. Please save this animal from an abusive owner.

Sincerely,
