Student Allegedly Beaten By Teacher Deserves Justice

Target: HD Chambers, Superintendent of Alief Independent School District

Goal: Justice for second-grader who was allegedly physically assaulted by teacher.

A second-grade teacher at Landis Elementary School in Texas has been accused of beating one of her students when his behavior became too much for her. The boy was being exceptionally noisy, but rather than verbally disciplining him and sending him to the principal’s office as would be typical for a misbehaving child, instead teacher Lisa Allison reportedly punched the boy in the face and sat on him.

Though Allison has been arrested and charged for this crime, more needs to be done. This manner of abuse towards a student, no matter what their behavior, is not acceptable. Teachers are expected to conduct themselves in a mature, civil manner to set an example for students, and physically assaulting a child is far from mature and civil. Schools are supposed to protect children from violence and assault, rather than be places where their own faculty instigates such things. The victim deserves some form of compensation and comfort after his assault, and the peace of mind in knowing that such a thing will not happen again.

The school board must take further action to prevent any future incidents of violence. Regardless of Allison’s future as an instructor at the school, the matter must be fully addressed and measures must be taken to ensure that such an incident does not happen again. Sign this petition to demand the school board help to deal with this matter promptly and take steps to prevent future assaults.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Superintendent Chambers,

A teacher at your school has been arrested after allegedly physically assaulting a child simply because his behavior was getting on her nerves. She reportedly did this rather than simply sending him to the principal’s office, which is the proper method of dealing with errant children.

Lisa Allison is currently facing charges of violence, but your school board must also take steps. Not just regarding Allison, but regarding the victim: he deserves justice and reassurance of his future safety, and your other students deserve such peace of mind as well. Please help the police deal with this matter efficiently, and take steps to protect the rest of your students and ensure that no teacher assaults a student in the future.

Sincerely,
