Target: Freddie Cannon; Greenville, Mississippi Chief of Police
Goal: Demand vandals of a black church be found and convicted quickly.
The Hopewell Baptist church Mississippi was badly burned, a possible case of arson, and “Vote Trump” was discovered spray-painted on the side of the building. Hopewell is a black church, and with the recent news of the KKK’s endorsement of Trump, this news is even more troubling than such news would already be. There is no word yet on who committed such crimes, and the police are currently investigating.
This is far from the first time a black church has been attacked or vandalized, especially in this day and age. This act is just another sad, harsh reminder that as much as we would like to believe racism has been done away with in the past 50 years, it is still alive and well. With the 2016 presidential election coming, bigotry is at an all-time high among supporters of Donald Trump.
This blatant act of racially based hatred cannot go unpunished. Sign this petition to demand the culprits be found and made to face justice as quickly as possible.
Dear Chief Cannon,
A black church has been vandalized and badly burned, a blatant act of racism. “Vote Trump” was spray-painted on the side of the building and has been clearly visible in all photos and sightings of the church, meaning this was most likely politically motivated as well. The presidential election is very soon, and Trump’s supporters have been more aggressive than usual.
Such a cruel, disgusting act cannot be left unpunished. No matter what someone’s political affiliations or race is, actions such as this are illegal and pointlessly aggressive. Please do everything in your power to find the culprits and punish them as quickly and harshly as possible.
