Target: Teresa May, UK Prime Minister,
Dogs serve and sacrifice for mankind in peace and war. Britain’s 9.3 million dog owners contribute many £millions to the UK economy in VAT on vet bills and dog food. Yet their interests are constantly flouted.
Responsible dog owners who clear up after their pets suffer the same bans and prohibitions as the irresponsible minority. Growing restrictions are being placed on dogs in the name of health and safety, while other animals such as cats, carrying the same zoonoses as dogs and others far more dangerous, are allowed complete freedom to roam.
Under new powers local authorities have recently banned dogs from over 3,300 British parks, and summer beach bans on dogs are being extended around Britain’s coastline. These restrictions seriously impede our freedom to enjoy the companionship of our dogs. We ask that no more UK dog bans be permitted on public land without consulting Britain’s dog owners.
