Target: Vitaly Churkin, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations
Goal: Halt deadly Russian airstrikes over the Syrian city of Aleppo after thousands of innocent civilians have been murdered.
Russia has once again vetoed a United Nations resolution that would bring an end to deadly airstrikes over the city of Aleppo, in which over 250,000 innocent civilians are trapped. The United Nations Security Council asked that the airstrikes be halted so that the citizens of the city can receive humanitarian and medical aid. Russia continues to veto this resolution, however, and leads deadly and damaging airstrikes that have killed thousands of innocent civilians, including children in the city’s hospitals.
In cooperation with Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian forces, the Russian military has carried out heinous war crimes against the city’s civilian population. Officials from France as well as American Secretary of State John Kerry agree that the only way to save the city and its population is for the airstrikes to come to an end. With terrorists attacking and terrorizing them on one side and Russian and Syrian airstrikes killing them from the other, there is nowhere for the hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children to go.
Sign the petition to demand that the U.N. propose another ceasefire resolution and that Russian ambassadors do not veto it, but instead agree with it so that the citizens of the city can receive the help and peace they deserve.
Dear Ambassador Churkin,
Russia has engaged in what can be described as nothing less than war crimes in the Syrian city of Aleppo. Thousands of innocent men, women, and children have been murdered by your violent airstrikes, in partnership with the Syrian regime.
While the United Nations has tried again and again to bring peace to the city in the form of a ceasefire, Russia has continued to veto the U.N.’s efforts. Your Security Council allies from both France and the United States have spoken out against your violence and inability to come to a peaceful agreement with the other U.N. nations. Tens of thousands of citizens remain in danger’s way because of your inability to cooperate. I ask that you join your fellow Security Council members and approve a ceasefire in Aleppo so that medical and humanitarian aid can be delivered to the deserving citizens.
