Target: Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin
Goal: Stop suppressing voters in Wisconsin and provide the voter IDs they need in time to vote in the election.
The DMV in Wisconsin is systematically attempting to suppress voters across the state by failing to provide the voter IDs people need in order to participate in the upcoming election. This kind of corruption disproportionately affects minority voters. Demand Wisconsin stop disenfranchising voters and provide the voter IDs people need to participate in this vital democratic process.
The state’s ID Petition Process (IDPP) is supposed to help citizens who do not have documents like a birth certificate obtain a free voter ID card. Unfortunately, this is an ineffective process that can take months and voters can be faced with other obstacles to obtaining the documents they need. The IDPP was dubbed unconstitutional by a U.S. district judge who ordered that Wisconsin give out voter IDs immediately.
Although Wisconsin claims to be doing so, an investigation by the organization VoteRiders, which helps people obtain voter IDs, found this to be untrue. Wisconsin cannot continue this corruption and must be pressured to give voters the rights they deserve. Demand Wisconsin end this voter suppression and give residents the documents they need to exercise their rights and vote.
Dear Governor Walker,
The DMV in your state is systematically attempting to suppress voters just in time for the election. Rather than making the process easy for residents and promptly providing the voter IDs they need to participate, the DMV is making voters, especially minority voters, jump through outrageous hoops in an attempt to obtain a voter ID that will probably not come in time for the election.
This obstruction of your citizens’ voter rights cannot continue. I demand you put an end to this voter suppression and immediately give people the IDs they need to vote.
