Target: Vivek Ranadive, Owner & Chairman of Sacramento Kings
Goal: Praise inclusion of all-gender bathrooms in newly-constructed NBA sports arena.
The Golden 1 Center, the new home of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, is receiving commendation from the LGBTQ community for featuring 23 single-stall all-gender bathrooms. With these inclusive amenities, the stadium becomes the world’s first arena designed to accommodate transgender people.
In the wake of recent controversy surrounding public bathroom use and gender identity, the Kings and their owners have instead chosen a tolerant and welcoming atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all. “We set out to build the most connected and forward-thinking arena in the world because we wanted to ensure the very best fan experience for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” said Kings owner and chairman Vivek Ranadive.
In addition to making accommodations for the transgender community, the Golden 1 Center is also environmentally friendly; it is entirely solar-powered, which is another first in the sports and entertainment world.
The inclusion of these all-gender bathrooms is an encouraging sign, and the Kings deserve praise for being the first organization to ensure equal access for all genders. Sign the petition below to thank the owner for his tolerant attitude and inclusive spirit.
Dear Mr. Ranadive,
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your new stadium’s inclusion of all-gender bathrooms. Yours is the first sports organization to make accommodations for the transgender community, and I applaud your tolerance and commitment to making all fans feel welcome, regardless of their gender.
In response to recent controversy about public bathrooms and gender identity, your organization has chosen to provide a safe space for those who may need it and I can only hope that future stadiums will be as inclusive as yours. Thank you for all your work.
