Target: Prosecutor Huge Mauricio, Peru
Goal: Seek the maximum penalty for community members who reportedly burned a woman alive because they believed she was a witch.
A 73-year-old woman was strapped onto a pyre and burned alive by community members who believed she was a witch, according to detectives. A witness took a video of the savage murder and gave it to prosecutors who allege that the victim, Rosa Villar Jarionca, had her hands tied to logs while a man doused her with gasoline just before a match was thrown on her. Her screams can be heard in the video as the lit match is tossed, according to a prosecutor. Authorities say that a document, signed by community leaders, said that Jarionca’s murder would serve “as an example to the community and other communities against this kind of damage.”
Jarionca was apparently left on the pyre burning for three days in order to remove all evidence of the murder, but authorities found her bones. Because the disgusting murder was committed deep in the Peru Jungle, the victim’s remains weren’t discovered for a week. This is the most savage and deplorable kind of treatment humans could commit against their own kind. Burning a woman alive for no other reason than because she’s believed to practice witchcraft is absolutely appalling. The community leaders and members involved in this heinous murder should be punished so severely that they can’t ever hurt another soul. Dear Mr. Mauricio,
A 73-year-old woman was allegedly burned alive by the members of her own community because they believed she was a witch and responsible for their ill health. The poor elderly woman was reportedly tied to a pier that burned for three days, but detectives found some of her bones and a signed document by the community leaders. The document reportedly stated that this incident would serve “as an example against this kind of damage.”
There is no excuse for this insane level of horrific human torture and murder. It’s up to you to see to it that Rosa Villar Jarionca gets the justice she deserves. That is why we’re urging you to see to it that her murderers are given the harshest punishment the law can allow.
