Revoke License of Veterinarian Found Brutally Abusing Pets

Target: Dr. Larry Caven, President, College of Veterinarians of Ontario

Goal: Don’t allow veterinarian found to have choked and hit pets to continue practicing.

A veterinarian has had his license suspended after being found guilty of repeatedly abusing animals brought into his clinic. Dr. Mahavir Singh Rekhi was allegedly recorded hitting and choking animals at Skyway Animal Hospital in St. Catharines, Ontario. After his staff recorded this abuse and brought it to the veterinary licensing authority, he was only given a slap on the wrist for his deplorable actions. Not only this, but he will be allowed to reduce his suspension to six months upon completion of a short retraining program.

According to reports, veterinary technicians at the clinic recorded 12 separate videos of Rekhi abusing animals for no reason after taking them out of sight of their owners. After these videos were forwarded to the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, he was found guilty of professional misconduct. He will be made to take a retraining class, pay the college $10,000 in fines, and his practice will be subject to three unannounced inspections over the two year period after he regains his license.

Pet owners trust that veterinarians have the best interest of the animals that they treat at heart. Just as a doctor found to be abusing human patients would have his license revoked, this veterinarian should never be allowed to practice again after being found guilty of this type of shocking abuse. Sign the petition below to denounce this lax punishment and demand that Dr. Rekhi has his license revoked completely.

  1. Shut him down….NOW !

  2. I want him to lose his license!! What kind of person does this? Close him down!

  3. This creep must lose his license IMMEDIATELY! What happened to “first do no harm”!?

  4. What the hell!? This isn’t about training, it’s about depraved actions!! He knows what he was doing IS wrong & he WILL continue to do it again!! I sure pray the owners of these pets recorded has seen this & sues his A** off!!! THAT is what will get this barbaric behavior put out of action!! This AND protesters out side his place! Let the world KNOW!!!

  5. Eleanor LaJuett says:

He needs the same treatment and his ass kicked!

  6. Lilian Caughlin says:

Burned out most likely and has other problems to boot. He needs to loose his license and only do paper work.
If I ever found out this had happened to one of my animals
I would make a pact with the devil to deal with it.

  7. I worked for an indian vet. I discovered their culture has no love of animals. They view this simply as a job.
The licensing board, veterinary board and everything else protects those who abuse. I know!!

    • Lo and behold…knew it wouldn’t take long for me to find a comment referring to his ethnicity. I suggest you get your facts right, if possible, beore commenting on Indian culture and our callous nature towards animals. Sheer and utter ignorance at its finest.

      • Oh, screw you! The subject isn’t the vet’s ethnicity! The subject is that he is an abuser! No one really cares if he’s indian. The concern is the animal abuse… which he should be put in prison for! The animal abuse laws suck! United States law is so lenient that it’s an embarrassment to our society. We definitely are in need of stronger animal abuse laws and harsher punishments for the abusers. Remember…abusive people almost always begin with small animals and work their way up to abuse, torture and death of human beings.

  8. This isn’t a matter of training. Someone who treats animals this way just has problems and should not be allowed to care for animals.

  9. This is not the action of someone who loves animals!! I not only want this man to lose his license but to do time in prison!! This is completely unaccptable and must be stopped IMMEDIATELY!! We take our furry kids to the doctor and we expect them to be treated with kindness, love and respect…not to be brutalized by some deranged idiot with a license to practice medicine!! Shut him down permanently before someone loses their beloved animal at the hands of this evil individual!

  10. Animals matter so why isn’t this idiot suspended from treating any animals.Even picking up their shit he is not worthy off..

  11. Tracy Marsh says:

What an absolute bastard!! Someone ought to do the same to him and see how he likes it, nasty nasty worthless piece of crap he is. Kick him out of the profession for good and yeah, a prison sentence would be good!!

  12. How could anyone find such behavior acceptable! — SOCIETY WILL NOT ACCEPT ANIMAL ABUSE FROM ANYONE, no less an Animal Doctor — This Vet should be nowhere near animals UNLESS supervised by those who love and respect animals — This Vet’s behavior is downright shameful, immoral, unconscionable, merciless, untrustworthy — ANIMALS DESERVE BETTER — they deserve care, respect & comfort — You MUST hold this doctor accountable — Take his crimes seriously — animal abuse and inflicting suffering on animals BY an Animal Doctor is absurd and unacceptable – you MUST slap him with hefty fines!
