Target: Brian McMonagle, head of Bill Cosby’s legal defense team
Goal: Demand Bill Cosby’s lawyers revoke their accusations of racism.
Recently, Bill Cosby’s lawyers claimed that the charges against him were racially biased. This is mainly due to the fact that 12 of the 13 women who will testify against him in court are white, and his lawyers are milking the race angle as hard as they can.
Cosby’s guilt seems all but certain to some, especially considering that over a decade ago he outright admitted to drugging and taking advantage of several women. The women who spoke out against him were very brave in their confessions considering Cosby’s formerly legendary celebrity status, and the fact that for decades the man was considered an icon of wholesome family values. His lawyers are not doing him or these women any favors by claiming racism.
In addition, Cosby has spoken out against people playing the race card to stay out of trouble, making it ironic that he would allow his lawyers to resort to it and try to use it to his advantage. His lawyers are attempting to silence his victims, which is completely unacceptable.
The allegations against Bill Cosby have nothing to do with his race and everything to do with sexual assault being a crime. Sign this petition to demand Cosby’s lawyers revoke their claim and allow the witnesses to speak against him.
Dear Mr. McMonagle,
Your allegations of racism against Bill Cosby are an obvious ploy to absolve him of guilt and responsibility for his actions, and are an obvious attempt to silence his reported victims. It took them a lot of courage to speak against him, as is the case for many sexual assault victims, and it is not fair to accuse them of racism when the issue clearly has nothing to do with race. Additionally, Cosby has outright admitted to drugging and molesting several women.
Playing the race card will only do more harm than good, not only for the victims you are attempting to silence but for Cosby himself, who would benefit from facing the consequences for his actions more than he would getting away with them. Please revoke your accusations of racism.
