Target: Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman
Goal: Prosecute man who habitually harasses and doxxes women to the full extent of the law for allegedly attacking a cop.
The man responsible for a website dedicated to the intense harassment of women online has been arrested for physically attacking a police officer, according to reports. This man, Ethan Ralph, is the owner of the blog The Ralph Retort, from which he has spearheaded vicious harassment campaigns against women who have done little more than criticize certain video games and openly discussed feminist theory online.
One of Ralph’s victims, Brianna Wu, experienced such intense harassment and so many death threats that she was forced to move after Ethan Ralph repeatedly doxxed her–posting her private information including credit card numbers, names and contact information of her family members, and photos of her house online. It was so bad that her case was featured on the popular TV show Law & Order.
Ralph’s violent tendencies finally caught up with him when police officers reportedly found him passed out from alcohol consumption at a conference center, and when they attempted to rouse him, he allegedly assaulted a deputy. He was immediately arrested and charged with two counts of felonious assault on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice.
Though the charges are serious, these cases often end in a plea deal that allows perpetrators to avoid jail time. However, Ralph has demonstrated himself to be a violent individual who doesn’t care about the safety of others. He spends his time terrorizing women for no good reason, yet has never been charged with a crime due to the insufficiency of online harassment and threat laws. This is an opportunity for justice to be done. Demand that prosecutors seek the maximum punishment for Ralph’s assault charges rather than settling for a plea deal.
Dear Mr. Plowman,
Recently, a man by the name of Ethan Ralph was arrested for assaulting an officer after he was roused from a drunken sleep in the lobby of a conference center. Though many cases like this end in a plea deal that lets the suspect avoid jail time, I urge you to seek the maximum penalty possible in this case.
Ethan Ralph has proven himself to be a violent individual who is dedicated to making innocent people’s lives miserable. Through his website, The Ralph Retort, he’s targeted multiple women in mass harassment campaigns that have involved the posting of their personal information–including home addresses, credit card numbers, and photos of their homes–online so that his followers can directly harass and threaten them.
Unfortunately, there has been no justice for these women simply because the laws regarding online harassment and doxxing haven’t caught up. However, you now have the chance to put a violent criminal in prison and teach him that there are consequences to his actions. I urge you to seek the maximum penalty in the case that Ethan Ralph is found guilty of the charges.
