Singer Must Face Sexual Assault Charges

Target: Earl Blumenauer, Oregon Congress Representative

Goal: Demand singer Joel Magid face justice for alleged sexual assault after he publicly confessed to the crime.

Very recently, indie singer Joel Magid came forward on Facebook to confess an alleged act of sexual assault against a woman. Reactions have been very split between those who witnessed said confession–some applauded his bravery in admitting what he did, while others are angry that it happened at all.

Regardless of how brave the man was to come forward and admit to his crime, sexual assault is still just that–a crime. Even if a person can clean up their act and atone for what they’ve done, they still need to face punishment. With rape and sexual harassment in the news so much lately, we need to send the message that sexual assault is a crime punishable by the law.

Magid should be tried and convicted in a proper court of law for his behavior for extra insurance that he does not do such a thing again. Sign this petition to demand the singer be held legally accountable for his actions.

Dear Mr. Blumenauer,

Joel Magid recently confessed to an alleged act of sexual assault on Facebook, and so far he has yet to face any criminal charges. While it can be argued that his confession was bold and the responsible thing to do, his actions still cannot go unpunished. He committed a strong offense against another person, and they deserve the peace of mind in knowing their assailant will be punished.

We need to send the message that sexual assault is a crime even if the perpetrator apologizes for or confesses to it. Please see to it that Magid will face justice for his actions, thus making that message strong and clear.
