Target: Mike Keating, Deputy Police Chief, Forest Park Police
Goal: Find and punish person responsible for burning a cat so severely that it died of its injuries.
A 3-month-old kitten is dead after succumbing to injuries consistent with being set on fire or tied to a firecracker. The cat, named Sprouts, was originally found in an alley with severe burns all over his body. He was then transported to the Felines & Canines Shelter in Chicago, where he received medical care. The cat’s injures were so severe that he later succumbed to a stroke, likely caused by the extreme physical stress brought on by his injuries.
This act shocked the community of Forest Park, where the cat was found. News of the case quickly spread on social media, prompting rights group In Defense of Animals to offer a reward to anyone with information leading to the conviction of the person responsible. When found, the person responsible could face third degree felony charges punishable by up to five years in prison.
This crime displays a shocking lack of regard for the suffering of animals. Especially considering that people capable of severe animal abuse can often escalate their violence to humans, it is imperative that the person responsible is apprehended immediately. Sign the petition below to ask the Forest Park police to dedicate extra resources to the investigation of any tips in the interest of quickly taking this violent offender off the streets.

The death of this cat not only shocked the community of Forest Park, but went viral on social media.
The person who committed this crime is capable of extreme malice toward innocent animals, and worse, could be at risk of escalating his violence toward humans. In order to ensure that both pets and residents of Forest Park are safe, the person responsible must be taken off the streets immediately. We, the undersigned, ask that you dedicate all available resources to apprehending and charging the person responsible for this abhorrent cruelty.
