Tell Congress: Get Money Out of Politics and OVERTURN Citizens United

we-the-people

Target: Members of Congress

Goal: Pass an amendment to the US Constitution overturning the Supreme Court decisions like Citizens United that have opened the floodgates of unlimited money in our elections.

It’s urgent that we save our democracy from the scourge of big money unleashed by Supreme Court decisions like Citizens United v. FEC. Since that 2010 decision, increasing — and staggering — amounts of money have been poured into our elections by corporate special interests and billionaire ideologues, drowning out the voices of ordinary voters.

Generations of Americans have amended our Constitution numerous times and now it’s our generation’s turn. It’s time to take back our democracy for the PEOPLE.

Tell Congress to pass an amendment to the Constitution that will undo the harm of Citizens United and related cases!

PETITION LETTER:

Members of Congress:

The Supreme Court’s decisions in cases like Citizens United v. FEC and McCutcheon v. FEC threaten to tear apart the fabric of our democracy by granting powerful corporations and wealthy donors unlimited influence in our political process. These decisions mark a drastic departure from previous law and our core values as a nation, and must be met with an appropriate response.

I join the millions of Americans calling on you to support and pass the Democracy For All constitutional amendment to ensure lawmakers have the authority to protect the voice of the voter from getting drowned out by big money, and place common sense limits on corporate, special interest and big donor influence in elections without delay.

Sincerely,

  2. Not just America, the UK too where the wealthy are riding roughshod over the rest of us with a Nazi Government that sponsors and encourages them!

  3. I am signing this petition because it is vital that American politics free’s itself from the stranglehold of monies which comes from large corporations. Vested interest by business should play NO PART in the running of a democratic country!
Simply put, as long as this continues NO LEADER will be free from TAINT and politicians will be hostages of big business and NOT proper representatives of the PEOPLE!
America is THE western super power who the rest of us depend on, go back to your roots IE. The Declaration of Independance and start a new..IT CAN BE DONE IF THE WILL AND COURAGE IS THERE!!

This is the truth, yet people seem to have no conception of what’s going on. The extremely wealthy want to rule us–make serfs of us, and from what I see, it’s gonna work. These are plans that been going on for ages, and it is so obvious what they want to do. We the people are so complacent, they won’t have any trouble formulating their intentions and carrying them out. The people–as I said before–have no clue what’s going on. It is a gross insult to this country to put a moron like Trump in the White House, and you can bet your bottom dollar he’ll cooperate with the monsters beautifully to destroy everything this country ever stood for. Our forefathers created a democracy in vain. UNLESS we wake up. Are we going to?

  4. Give us back our country ruled FOR the people BY the people and not just the rich or corporations.

  5. We all know that “big business” owns America.

Look at the money they donate to keep politicians voting against what the people may want but instead will profit their businesses.

    • I agree with you, but it seems the modern era is fixed toward supporting abusive systems. I think all you can do is try to limit your impact as much as possible. And try to support humane certified products as much as they’re available. Not everyone can go vegan.

  8. The American voter has the ability to stop the wealthy individuals and career politicians control of our government by voting for Johnson or Strein this November. That will send the clearest message to Congress it is time for major changes in our political system.

  9. Indeed the UK also has its problems especially with the successor to David Cameron’s seat trying to continue his fight to bring back fox hunting, fox hunting/shooting supporters put in the Lords and in the Environment Department. Also corporate food giants having a say so as not to bring in a sugar tax

  10. It all happened before didn’t it, bring back the Guillotine, weed out those bought judges, and work your way down to corrupt politicians, the influence peddlers, the corporations and their directors. You’ll probably have to keep sharpening those chopping blades for a while.
