Justice for Dog Allegedly Beaten and Slammed Against the Ground

Target: Janet Lyness, Johnson County Attorney

Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for a man who allegedly beat his dog and repeatedly slammed it against the ground.

An Iowa City man aggressively beat his dog and repeatedly slammed it against the ground, witnesses state. The dog reportedly did nothing to provoke the horrific attack. Demand justice for this innocent dog.

A video of the attack shows the dog lying on ground while its owner strikes it several times. The unprovoked attack started when John David Fredericks allegedly grabbed his dog by the collar and slammed it onto the ground.

Iowa City police responded and arrested Fredericks on charges of animal neglect. The dog’s condition is unreported at this time. Sign below and demand the maximum penalty in this case.

Dear County Attorney Lyness,

A dog suffered when its owner reportedly beat it and slammed it against the ground. The reportedly unprovoked attacked alerted witnesses, who recorded a video showing the alleged abuse. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

The video reportedly showed John David Fredericks beating his dog. The dog laid on the ground, completely still and clearly not a threat to Fredericks during the attack. Fredericks was arrested and charged with animal neglect, but would face only weeks in jail and a small fine if convicted.

Iowa’s animal welfare laws are among the worst in the nation. We demand that you recommend the maximum penalty possible in this case and take a stand against animal abuse.

  2. That bastard needs beating to death Kill him. Don’t let the mongrel own animals and a hefty fine. Hope he rots in hell. The laws need to change now and deal with animal cruelty shouldn’t have to sign for these petition should be dealt with without it.

  3. Jim Roberts, M.D. says:

Shame on you Iowa…your lack of animal welfare laws make you look like ignorant 3rd world countries. Your constant disregard for animal suffering makes you look like inhumane pathetic cowards.

  4. Poor dog! Justice and protection is needed in society to punish and prevent sociopath criminal like John David Fredericks from harming another living being. Clearly he is dangerous and this beast must not be allowed to own another pet. Iowa, this is a wake-up call to keep up with a animal lover society. Implement and enforce animal protection law to ensure that perpetrators are severely punished. The innocent dog must be confiscated and rehomed to a caring and loving family immediately!

  5. Does anyone have an update on the condition of the dog???

  6. If he is doing this to animals. WHAT has he done and gotten away with towards humans? Your state SUCKS. It needs updating of laws that are Sorely needed. Used to be that people had a sense of right or wrong. Not so now. All the violence on TV, VIDEO GAMES, in the classrooms. Kids grow up thinking that everything is ok. There are no consequences. Parents don’t care where the kids are as long as they ARE NOT bothering them! So sad.

  7. Iowa, you must strengthen your laws against animal abuse, now! We demand justice for this defenseless dog!
