Target: Boone Family Foundation and Harold Simmons Foundation Executive Director Cynthia Yung
Goal: Applaud donation that will give out free IUDs and STD testing to 1,000 low-income women through Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas will be giving out free IUDs and STD testing to 1,000 low-income women each year for the next three years thanks to a donation from the Boone Family Foundation and the Harold Simmons Foundation.
A study from earlier this year showed the negative effects that Texas laws against women’s reproductive rights have caused. The study showed that fewer woman were accessing birth control and thus had higher pregnancy rates. Many women in the state were even going so far as to Google “how to have a miscarriage.”
Planned Parenthood in general has been under major attack over the past year, but especially in the conservative state of Texas where Medicaid funding was taken away from the organization. Because of this donation, more women will have access to affordable birth control and other reproductive options. Applaud this donation that will provide life-changing services to the women who need them most.
Dear Ms. Yung,
I am writing to applaud you for an amazing donation that will give free IUDs and STD testing to 1,000 low-income women through Planned Parenthood in Texas each year for the next three years.
In a state where women’s reproductive rights are attacked left and right, this is a huge win and opportunity to help so many women across the state. Recent years have seen major cuts to Planned Parenthood in Texas, a state that so desperately needs the services offered by this organization.
Thank you for your commitment to women and their reproductive rights.
