Chickens Run Over by Forklift and Suffocated by Tyson Foods Workers Deserve Justice

Target: Mark Herring, Virginia Attorney General

Goal: Pursue animal cruelty charges against former Tyson Foods employees who have allegedly beaten and abused chickens.

A graphic video has surfaced allegedly showing employees of Tyson Foods beating, throwing, and suffocating chickens in several factories throughout Virginia. The violent video, which has already generated public outrage, has also spurred animal control investigations.

The video in question was shot by an undercover activist and reportedly shows several instances of animal cruelty and abuse. Workers can allegedly be seen wringing birds’ necks, running them over with forklifts, and leaving piles of wounded chickens on the floor. Employees also have reported to have participated in “boning,” a practice in which a plastic rod is stuck through a bird’s beak.

Tyson has already taken action, calling the behavior “inexcusable” in a recent statement and announcing the firing of 10 employees shown in the video. Loss of employment, however, is not enough for these individuals. Such cruelty demands legal action. Sign the petition below and demand that these employees be charged for animal cruelty if found guilty.

Dear Mr. Herring,

I am writing to call your attention to a graphic video depicting multiple instances of animal abuse at Tyson Foods’ factories in Virginia. In the video, employees are allegedly seen kicking, punching, and choking chickens, and then leaving the wounded birds in piles on the ground.

Tyson, the nation’s largest chicken-processing company, has already fired the employees responsible for these violations but actions of such a cruel nature merit further punishment. These individuals deserve to face legal punishment for their alleged misconduct, and I urge you to immediately investigate this matter and pursue charges against these violent people.

TYSON – We are fully aware of the cruelty you allow your workers to inflict on these helpless animals – STEP UP – I will NEVER purchase your product – in fact, I already don’t – this is totally unacceptable and your company will pay dearly for allowing this abusive behavior.

  2. This kind of crap happens everyday with chickens and pigs and cows. It’s one of several reasons I am a vegetarian.

The first initial phase of my vegetarian diet was when my restaurant was introduced to Keller farms where the have open range and no chemicals or additives added to the meat. What a difference. So, buy open range, organic meat instead of Tyson – you’ll see and taste the difference first bite.

  3. Go vegetarian or vegan! Animals do not deserve to suffer like this. These low-lives are not worth to breath the air!Hope Karma will give its dose of justice!

  5. Those workers have faces and names. Where did they go? They did not disappear.Terminated at Tyson’s but hired somewhere else, very soob.
Wonder, how are they doing after their shift is over and they are heading home? Kids,pets,wives-are they all running for cover when the brute comes home?

  6. Nature treats back now ?
    Take responsibility for your cruelty
Take responsibility for your Being on Earth ?

  7. Mark Herring, Virginia Attorney General,

Please pursue animal cruelty charges against former Tyson Foods employees who have allegedly beaten and abused chickens. Please, I am begging you.

  8. Sharmaine Kiddy says:

Please bring justice. This is horrible and barbaric. Please, don’t let these evil people get away with this.
