Target: Mr. Keriako Tobiko, Chief Public Prosecutor of Kenya
Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for a man who reportedly hacked his wife’s hands off with a machete because she could not have children.
A husband allegedly hacked his wife’s hands off because she couldn’t have children, even though he was reportedly impotent. The Kenyan woman lost both of her hands and suffered massive wounds to her head. Demand justice for this innocent woman.
He told her ‘today is your last’ day and threatened to ‘shut her mouth,’ reports claim. Then Stephen Ngila allegedly attacked his wife, Jackline Mwende, with a machete. Mwende lost both of her hands and received massive injuries to her face and head. Reports claim that it was Ngila who was infertile and that his impotency could have been corrected, but he never showed up for his doctor’s appointments.
Kenyan police arrested Ngila immediately following the incident and he is in police custody. Sign below and take a stand against gender-based violence.
Dear Mr. Tobiko,
A woman lost her hands and received severe facial lacerations, reportedly because she could not conceive children. Her husband was arrested and charged with her assault. We demand the maximum penalty in this case.
Stephen Ngila reportedly hacked off Jackline Mwende’s hands in a fit of rage. He accused her of being infertile, as they’d been unable to conceive a child in their seven years of marriage. They’d been separated for three months prior to the attack, and Mwende is reportedly heartbroken over her husband’s verbal and physical abuse.
Gender-based violence cannot go unpunished. We demand that you recommend the maximum penalty in this case.
