Justice for Dog Allegedly Kicked by Groomer

Target: Kevin E. VanderSchel, U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of Iowa

Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the groomer who allegedly kicked a dog and broke his ribs.

A dog suffered broken ribs after he was reportedly kicked by his groomer. He screamed in pain and could hardly walk following his appointment. Demand justice for this innocent dog.

Jasper was not himself after his grooming appointment at the Creature Comfort Veterinary Center in Iowa City. The corgi walked slowly and with his ears down, refusing to jump into his owner’s car. Veterinarians diagnosed him with multiple rib fractures and lung damage. Per police reports, the groomer admitted to kicking Jasper during the appointment.

The groomer has been charged with animal neglect, a misdemeanor, and could face jail time if convicted. Sign below and demand the maximum penalty in this case.

Dear U.S. Attorney VanderSchel,

A corgi endured great pain and suffering, allegedly at the hands of his groomer. He sustained broken ribs and tissue damage during his appointment. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty for this alleged animal abuser.

Jasper wears a large bruise on his side after his groomer allegedly kicked him. It will take him at least four to six weeks to heal from the painful bone and tissue damage reportedly sustained during this routine appointment. Emotionally, he may never be the same.

This abuse cannot go unpunished. Ban this groomer from working with animals ever again and punish him to the greatest extent of the law.

Ummm, if the groomer admits the charge you do not have to hide behind the security blanket of the word “alleged.” As these typically unnecessarily expository letters go I was surprised you did not mention the admission of guilt “per police reports.”

As an Iowan, I find this groomer’s behavior unconscionable. And as to him/her only being charged with animal neglect, a misdemeanor– I am ashamed our state has such pathetically lax laws regarding animal abuse and neglect. The groomer should be given the maximum sentence available for this crime, and needs to be banned from any future work with animals. He or she is a self-admitted danger to these creatures.
