Demand Fox News Stop Supporting Ann Coulter After Racist Tweets

Target: Rupert Murdoch, CEO of Fox News, Andrews McMeel, President of Universal Press Syndicate

Goal: Ban Ann Coulter from appearing on Fox News and stop publishing her column.

Ann Coulter may have gone too far when she tweeted a racist comment about the Muslim father of an American war hero. Coulter is widely known as the physical representation of the phrase “stirring the pot,” as she likes to provoke debate with her terribly misguided and ill-informed statements she makes on television, her column, and her Twitter account.

Khizr Khan is the father of Captain Humayun Khan, who died while saving 10 of his fellow soldiers back in the Iraq War in 2004. Coulter used Khan’s speech as an opportunity to spread hate speech about Muslims, something that isn’t necessarily a new phenomena from the conservative right, but even many conservatives are saying that Ann went way too far by insulting the father of a war hero.

“You know what this convention really needed? An angry Muslim with a thick accent like Fareed Zacaria.” This is what Coulter tweeted in the middle of Khan’s speech memorializing his fallen son. This comment has raised a lot of backlash from Ann’s own community, so it may be that this time Coulter really went too far–and it’s time for her to have her publishing rights revoked and for her to be taken off the air as a political commentator.

The most striking of all the criticism to come her way came from that of longtime friend, editor, and colleague John Podhoretz, who tweeted that he was ashamed to have ever known Coulter. It’s no surprise that even her closest colleagues are turning on her after this hateful comment, however, seeing as even the most conservative right are growing tired of the rampant bigotry that dominates the Republican party nowadays.

It seems the tides are turning and it’s time for media companies to stop condoning outright racist behavior by allowing people like Ann Coulter to continue saying whatever pops into their heads without consequence. Demand that the media companies supporting Coulter immediately terminate her contract and stop giving her publishing abilities.

Dear Rupert Murdoch and Andrews McMeel,

Currently, you are the media organizations who give Ann Coulter the most publication and screen time. Allowing Coulter to continue speaking through your outlets without any repercussion for her reprehensible behavior is almost a crime. By letting Coulter continue to smear the image of Muslims across the world, especially those who are war heroes, is particularly concerning because it gives your audiences the idea that this type of hate speech is condoned by legitimate media companies.

Even some of the most conservative voices in the media today are shaming Ann Coulter for the hateful rhetoric she spouted in regards to a war heroCoulter took what was a beautiful and touching moment by a father remembering his son’s heroism and turned it into an opportunity to bash Muslims. She is known for her polarizing opinions, but this sets a new low as it was nothing but hateful, un-patriotic, and completely uncalled for. You know it’s bad when even her own colleagues are calling for her resignation and declaring that they are ashamed to have ever known her.

I demand that Ann Coulter be taken off the air and that her publishing rights be revoked so she can no longer spew her hate speech on such a global scale, as she does now. If Fox News really stood by their slogan of “Fair and Balanced,” then you would stop allowing the opinion of someone with a very clearly slanted view from holding a position as a political commentator. The UPS should also know better than to publish devout racists in their columns. As media organizations you have an obligation to respect the objectivity of journalism and not let someone with such abject hate be published under your banner.
