Stop Former KKK Leader From Becoming a Senator

ConfederateFlag

Target: David Duke, Former Ku Klux Klan leader and current candidate for Senate.

Goal: End white supremacist’s campaign to become a U.S. Senator.

David Duke has a dark history of involvement with the KKK. He was not just a member of the hate group, but a leader. What he may be best known for in recent years, though, is his endorsement of presidential nominee Donald Trump, who infamously took over 24 hours to denounce any affiliations with Duke. Now he’s appearing on the media’s radar once again, this time for a much more alarming reason. This white supremacist and convicted felon now wishes to bring his bigotry and fear-mongering to the U.S. Senate, representing the state of Louisiana.

It’s no surprise that Duke is running his campaign on a platform meant to cater to the needs of white Americans. He claims that “European Americans need at least one man…in Congress who will defend their rights and heritage,” and that the “ethnic cleansing of the people whose forefathers created America” must be stopped. These claims are embarrassingly inaccurate when one considers the actual current racial relations in America. Police violence against African-Americans, instances of Islamophobic attacks and protests, and other forms of racial violence and discrimination against people of color are at an all-time high. Many U.S. citizens’ civil liberties are in fact under siege, but it is not European Americans who are in need of protection.

Duke’s campaign is so ludicrous and dangerous that even the National Republican Senatorial Committee has refused to back it. The Republican Party of Louisiana has also stated that it will “play an active role in opposing David Duke’s candidacy.” Duke is obviously fighting a losing battle, and it is time that he end his campaign. Even though there is no chance of his winning, there is no need for anymore hatred or bigotry in this country’s political climate. He must do the ethical thing and step down.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Duke,

I was abhorred to learn of your plans to become a U.S. Senator. By spewing your ignorant, hateful ideology on such a public platform, you are rubbing salt in the wounds caused by this country’s history of slavery, white supremacy, and oppression. Your claims that white Americans’ rights are under attack are not only ludicrous but insulting to the millions of people of color in this country whose lives and liberties have been actively degraded, diminished, and stripped away. You so boldly state that you are defending the people whose forefathers built this country, while conveniently forgetting that this country was actually built on the genocide of Native Americans and the enslavement of black people.

It is time that you stop manipulating the racial tension in this country to promote your white supremacist agenda. Stop pandering to the most fearful, ignorant, and hateful people in this country. Your campaign is an insult and an embarrassment, and even your own political party refuses to support you. Enough is enough. End your campaign now, and stop actively contributing to the violence, tension, and fear that has made it so dangerous to be anyone but a white man in the U.S.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

He’ll NEVER get a vote anyway, he’s a racist and he even CHEATED his own members!!

  2. “The philosophy of nonviolence which I learned from Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr., during my involvement in the civil rights movement was first responsible for my change in diet…Under the leadership of Dr. King, I became totally committed to nonviolence, and I was convinced that nonviolence meant opposition to killing in any form. I felt the commandment ‘Thou Salt not kill’ applied to human beings not only in their dealings with each other – war, lynching, assassination, murder and the like – but in their practice of killing animals for food or sport. Animals suffer and die alike. Violence causes the same pain…the same arrogant, cruel and brutal taking of life.” – Dick Gregory
