Target: George Brandis, Attorney General of Australia
Goal: Seek maximum amount of jail time for man who allegedly shot and killed a kangaroo.
A kangaroo was reportedly shot in the head with a crossbow. The eastern grey kangaroo, named Spot by the children in the neighborhood where he frequented, lived for a month with the crossbow bolt in his head. Spot survived the cruelty of humans only to tragically die of shock three days after finally having surgery.
Johnathon Calleja and his brother reportedly drove an unregistered vehicle with no numbered plates to private property where a family lived. Armed with a crossbow and camouflage gear, the brothers reportedly shot the kangaroo in the head. The family, including the children who considered the frequent visitor a pet, witnessed the horrifying image of Spot with the arrow through his head. Reports say the children were terrified to let their domestic pets outdoors after the incident.
Calleja’s sentencing has been postponed until September 12. He could face jail time, but there’s no guarantee that he will receive a just punishment. Please sign this petition to demand that he receive the maximum amount of jail time for allegedly murdering the innocent animal, if guilty.
Dear Mr. Brandis,
A man reportedly dressed in camouflage and shot a kangaroo with a crossbow. The poor kangaroo lived with the arrow in his head for a month, but died of shock after surgery.
The innocent kangaroo was on the property of a family who considered him a pet when he was shot. The the kangaroo and the family who loved him deserve justice. We demand that the man who did this be sentenced to the maximum extent possible.
