Put an End to Animal Testing

Target: Lamar S. Smith, Chairman of Committee on Science, Space, and Technology

Goal: Allocate funding to “Human on a Chip” program to put an end to animal testing.

Researchers are looking to make animal testing a practice of the past with new technology that replicates essential human organs on a microchip. Animal activists all over the world are lauding this new technology being developed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory because it appears to be a viable solution to animal testing.

Last year, the U.S. Government reported that 767,622 animals were used in lab testing. While this may be an eight percent drop from the year before, any amount animals being tested on is cruel and inhumane, even if it’s for the “better good” or research purposes.

These startling numbers are why it’s so imperative that we focus our attention on technology that can replace the need for animal testing. While technology exists that is similar to what the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is using, Livermore’s tech focuses on four vital functions of the human body: the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, blood-brain barrier and heart. These four systems are some of the most commonly tested on in regards to animal testing, particularly in lab mice.

If we can figure out how certain chemicals and treatments respond directly to humans, not only can we eliminate the torture of many helpless animals, but we can achieve a higher success rate in preliminary testing when it comes to new chemicals and health treatments. Join us and ask that the U.S. government allocates funding for this project to help put an end to animal testing.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Smith,

Lab animals are often tortured for the sake of “science” and in the end usually die from the testing and wind up being incinerated, with the researchers moving on to the next animal. Such a treatment is barbaric and should be immediately outlawed. This sentiment is not a new one–animal activists have been calling for it for quite some time, but the problem remained that we still have health treatments and chemicals that require live testing before we can approve them for the general public.

A new technology has emerged that could render animal testing completely useless, putting an end to an outdated science practice. The researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are working on a technology that replicates the four vital human systems on microchips for the purpose of laboratory testing. Not only can this technology completely put an end to animal testing, but it can create a much more efficient way of testing healthcare options and new chemicals with a higher accuracy result than ever before.

In order to better gauge the safety of a new chemical, or the effectiveness of a healthcare treatment, we need to actually be able to test on human vital systems, rather than genetically similar systems that are found in lab animals. This technology can save countless lives, both animal and human, and deserves government funding immediately. In order to ensure that no more animals fall victim to the horrors of lab testing, funding must be allocated to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory so they can expedite their research process and make this technology widely available to labs all across the country.

Sincerely,

  1. respect for all living creature

  2. THIS COULD BE ONE OF THE BEST INVENTIONS EVER,AND TO STOP ALL ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS WOULD BE FOR MOST OF US THE BEST EVER NEWS. SINCE IT BEGAN EXPERIMENTING ON ANIMALS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST HEINOUS CRIMES SINCE THE LATE 18TH CENTURY UP UNTIL NOW. MILLIONS OF ANIMALS HAVE SUFFERED THE WORST ANIMAL CRUELTY, AND AT THE HANDS OF SO CALLED SCIENTIST AND IT’S ALL BEEN IN SECRET, THEY SHOULD BE NAMED AND SHAMED FOR THERE BARBARIC PRACTICES, LETS TRY THIS NEW INVENTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, SO THAT ALL ANIMALS WILL NO LONGER SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF THESE SUB-HUMAN INDIVIDUALS.

  6. WE ALREADY KNOW THE OUTCOMES- STOP ALL ANIMAL TESTING NOW!

  7. We demand that animal testing stop, now! Enough torturing innocent and defenseless animals, now!

  8. There are enough people charged with cruelty to animals, use them instead!
