Target: Democratic National Committee President Amy Dacey
Goal: Make Debbie Wasserman-Schultz give up her honorary chair position in Hillary’s campaign.
Following the recently unearthing of Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails by Wikileaks that show a clear effort of collusion to keep Bernie Sanders out of the nomination seat, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has stepped down as the head of the Democratic Party. However, Hillary Clinton has now appointed Wasserman-Schultz as an honorary chair of of Clinton’s campaign.
The irony of this decision is so grand, it’s almost stranger than fiction. Clinton has hired the woman who allegedly helped her rig the primary election after she was fired for allegedly helping rig the primary election. This is absolutely unacceptable and will help solidify cronyism as a “regular thing” in the Democratic Party.
One of the key themes of the last few weeks for the Democratic Party has been unifying the party in an effort to defeat Donald Trump. So why would it make sense for Clinton to hire someone who was just fired for hindering party unification? That action is so counterproductive that it may actually strengthen the divide between Democrats in the upcoming election. With Bernie supporters already protesting Clinton’s campaign and the recent revelation of the DNC collusion, it seems that this will only fuel the flames of tension between Democratic voters.
In a statement issued by Bernie Sanders regarding the resignation of Wasserman-Schultz as DNC Chair, Sanders himself even acknowledged that her departure is supposed to help pave the way to party unification. “While she deserves thanks for her years of service, the party now needs new leadership that will open the doors of the party and welcome in working people and young people.”
So allowing her to remain an integral part of Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic Party at large in the coming months is nothing but an insult to the true symbolism of her stepping down in the first place. Wasserman-Schultz’s resignation should serve as a message that the Democratic Party cares about the will of the people and intends to move the party forward however they can, regardless of the cost. Instead, her resignation is looking more and more like a formality.
This is why it is imperative that she step down from Clinton’s campaign, as this appointment only makes the Wikileaks revelation seem that much more suspicious. Demand that Democrat leaders pressure Wasserman-Schultz leave her position and stay out of Clinton’s presidency efforts.
Dear President Amy Dacey,
The Democratic Party is supposed to be made up by the people and for the people, so why is it that there is hard evidence that the DNC had conspired to elevate Hillary Clinton’s campaign to a higher level while pushing out the Sanders campaign at the same time? Even more so, why is it that after all of these recent revelations, is Debbie Wasserman-Schultz being appointed by Hillary Clinton to serve in a key position on her campaign?
Signs of cronyism and corruption within the Democratic Party and the Democratic National Convention are only becoming more apparent as each decision gets made. It appears that at this point, Wasserman-Schultz’s resignation appears to have been nothing more than a formality to appease the angry protesters calling for her resignation.
Party unification is a major theme of the Democratic Party right now, and appointing the person responsible for the ever-growing divide of the party is sure to upset Democrat voters even more than before. It is imperative that balance is restored back in the Democratic Party and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is stripped of all privileges in the party and Clinton’s campaign to ensure that party unity can truly happen.
