Puppy Found With Maggot-Infested Wounds Deserves Justice

Target: Keith R. Sadler, Lancaster City Chief of Police

Goal: Charge the breeder responsible for leaving a puppy in critical condition before surrendering it to an animal rescue.

A young puppy was surrendered to an animal shelter in life-threatening condition, yet the breeder responsible for neglecting the animal has not been charged. Rescuers report that the sickly 4-month-old Boston Terrier, named Libre, was emaciated, dehydrated, barely breathing, and just hours from dying when he was taken from the breeder.

According to Janine Guido from the Speranza Animal Rescue, who rescued the puppy and rushed him to the vet, Libre had demodectic mange, “severe secondary skin infections,” rotting skin and maggot-infested open wounds. Moreover, the puppy was 15 pounds underweight and too weak to stand or even wag his tail. Despite his condition, Libre’s former owner has not been charged with cruelty or neglect.

Sign this petition urging authorities to take action against the person responsible for leaving a young puppy in such an appalling condition.

Dear Chief Sadler,

The person responsible for leaving a young puppy in a severe state of neglect deserves punishment. Since named Libre, the young Boston Terrier was rescued in a terrible state. He was severely emaciated, dehydrated, and suffered from painful skin infections. Rescuers report the puppy was “hours from death” and had bleeding wounds infested with maggots.

Libre was also severely underweight, weighing 15 pounds less than a dog of his age and breed should. Despite these clear signs of serious neglect, the breeder has not been punished for cruelly leaving this puppy to die in such a painful and distressing condition. Please investigate this matter and charge the person responsible for animal cruelty and neglect.

  4. Waltraud Usahanun says:

    stop puppymills and breeders

    persons responsible

since centuries nothing happens in this way – for what you earn your money – money for NOTHING

  5. Beth Nordmeyer says:

Why don’t you prosecute, seems like judges just let these people get off with nothing. Glad my tax dollars are working, yeah right.

  6. Alice Knight says:

What is the reason for the breeder not being held responsible for his cruelty? Did anyone from the police department or the rescue service press charges if not what could possibly be a good enough reason not to? In my opinion it’s ABUSE if you don’t prosecute and punish this person. You definitely are sending the wrong message to people who take pleasure and power in acts of animal atrocities.

  7. Dear Mr. Keith R. Sadler, Lancaster City Chief of Police
I demand you Charge the breeder responsible for leaving a puppy in critical condition before surrendering it to an animal rescue.
If these people who breed these innocent little beings into the world are going to make money off of them then the breeder should have to take responsibility for their actions when they don’t care for the animals properly.
And I don’t mean just financial responsibility either I mean they should do the time. The breeder should get the maximum penalty and lose their license.
Ok folks, this is the time that you can finally make a dent in getting these breeders shut down and made illegal. Everyone must send emails and show up to court and make the judge see that you all want justice for this breeders actions. Call the TV stations get it broadcast to the county how this is standard protocol for breeders to breed more and more little beings into the world only to let one suffer for months without help so as to not spend any money.
