Expose ExxonMobil for Denying Climate Change

Target: United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch

Goal: Investigate ExxonMobil for its attempts to deny climate change and suppress scientific research.

ExxonMobil — one of the world’s biggest oil and gas companies — has spent huge sums of money in its effort to deny the threat of climate change. Despite over a dozen pending lawsuits and mounting public pressure, recent disclosures show that the company has spent millions of dollars to help discredit research on global warming and prevent climate legislation.

The issue began when an investigative report revealed that Exxon was fully aware of the dangers posed by climate change as early as the 1970’s. Rather than take this information public, the company tried to bury the results, leading to accusations that investors, shareholders, and the public had been misled about the seriousness of global warming.

The heightened scrutiny and negative publicity does not seem to have dissuaded Exxon. According to a recent log of donations, the corporation has already donated more than $500,000 since the initial report was published, all of which went to organizations devoted to fighting climate legislation and denying the effects of climate change in general.

Exxon’s donations show that the company cares more about its profits than the environment. Demand that this greedy corporation be held accountable for its unethical actions.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mrs. Lynch,

I am writing to demand further action be taken to investigate ExxonMobil’s efforts to deny climate change. Despite facing over a dozen pending lawsuits and mounting public pressure, this greedy company continues to spend money to fight climate legislation and discredit climate change research.

Such blatant misdirection is unethical at best and potentially illegal. Exxon is clearly willing to damage the environment if it means more profit, which is unacceptable. Please intensify efforts to punish this corporation before the environment is irreparably damaged.

Sincerely,

These giants were well aware of the damage being caused ago. Due to their bottomless resources they could spend on research they gained insight before anyone else began to realise the scale of damage.
They must be held accountable but fear they’ll escape.afterall, they have money and power.
