Target: Dr. Pepper Snapple CEO Larry D. Young
Goal: Tell Snapple to phase out its use of aspartame in its diet beverages.
Snapple, a company that claims to be “all natural” and “made from the best stuff on Earth” is still using one of the worst artificial sweeteners in existence. Aspartame is linked to many forms of cancer and neurological damage, and too many companies still use it already, but it is especially jarring in Snapple.
It has been scientifically proven many times that aspartame is one of the worst additives that can be used in food and drink, but Snapple prides itself on being supposedly made from only the best ingredients possible. Even if not everything in its products is one-hundred percent natural, the company would be closer to the truth in its slogan and its advertisements if it changed from aspartame to a better artificial sweetener in its diet beverages. Not only is aspartame dangerous, but consumers have complained that it leaves a poor aftertaste in their mouths as well.
It is time for more drink companies to stop using aspartame, and Snapple should be among the first. There are far better sugar substitutes, such as stevia, that can replace the dangerous additive linked to so many cancers and neurological damage. Sign this petition to demand Snapple phase out its use of aspartame once and for all.
Dear Mr. Young,
Your company’s claim that Snapple is made from the best stuff on earth does not match with what is actually in your diet beverages. You still use aspartame, which is one of the more dangerous chemical sweeteners on the market. Your consumers deserve better than the risk of cancer and neurological damage, and it is time to bring more truth to your company’s claim.
Aspartame has been in use for decades, but over the past several years more disturbing revelations have been brought to light about how dangerous it truly is. Not only does it contribute to cancer and neurological damage, but it can increase the risk of obesity as well as gastrointestinal distress for those with weaker stomachs.
Please phase out the use of aspartame and start using more natural sweeteners, such as stevia. You owe it to yourselves, your brand and your consumers to take this step and make your diet beverages healthier and less dangerous. It is time to bring more truth to your slogan.
