Save Orangutans From Extinction

Goal: YB Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, Bornean Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment

Target: Strengthen protections for critically endangered orangutans.

The Bornean orangutan is now officially listed as “critically endangered.” Based on research from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), these precious animals now face an “extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.”

In making their assessment, the IUCN listed habitat destruction and degradation, along with hunting and poaching, as the significant factors for the dramatically thinned orangutan population. As of 2010, only 59.6 percent of Borneo’s forests were found to be habitable and government protections have done little to help these animals, as illegal logging operations have gone largely unchecked.

Humans have endangered these animals, and now it is time for humans to save them. Sign the petition below and demand that the government take action before these valuable creatures are gone forever.

Dear Mr. Manjun,

I am writing to bring your attention to the plight of the Bornean orangutan, which is now officially listed as “critically endangered.” Due to illegal logging operations, poaching, and forest destruction, these precious creatures are now on the verge of being wiped out permanently.

As is often the case, human interference has decimated the population of yet another species. These animals cannot recover without a concentrated effort, and I urge you to strengthen protections before the orangutan is lost forever.

What about logging, think human development is only palm oil plantations, what they don’t burn, they cut. And check the human population growth rate on Borneo, Orangutans have to go, no room for them.

      • I’m pretty sure my opinion means nothing to you but I find your comment “orangutans have to go, no room for them” very sad and utterly disgusting. Please take a day-trip to a zoo with your friends and family and see what joy these animals give, just by existing.

      • I do hope you’re being sarcastic. The orangutans were, after all, there first.

      • Unbelievable. You have no respect for nature, the earth and all that reside. I imagine you only care about yourself. Humans overpopulate and that is a problem all on its own. You’re too stupid and arrogant to see that though.

        • Francesca Rago says:

I’m sure this comment was sarcastic. Note the reference to logging and “what they don’t burn, they cut.”

  3. Palm oil can be replaced or made else where. the Old man of the forest once extinct cannot be replaced, please protect them. give the farmers jobs as tourist reps. and the Lumber jacks jobs as armed protection saving the oranges.
Time is getting short for these Great creatures.

  4. Burn all palm oil plantations and execute all those that harm orangutans.

  5. You MUST save the intelligent, gentle urangutans from extinction
Palm Oil Plantations MUST be closed. This stuff should be banned worldwide – it does so much harm to innocent wildlife Again, this is because of human greed!

  6. What else is new n good about all these Sinful n the selfish greeds of humans nowadays !!!! They don’t give a shit about God’s creations at all!! What they know n want is JUST MONEY N THEMSELVES !!! SHAME OF THESE MORONS !!! SAVE THE PRECIOUS ORANGUTANS !!!! STOP THE PALM OLI PLANTATION N DO IT ELSE WHERE !!! SHAME ON YOU !!!

  7. JINNY LEE says:

Morally as well as spiritually we are all obligated to be good stewards of this earth and that includes the habitats of all species who occupy it. Honor it.

  8. My god. What the hell is it going to take for the masses to catch a wake up about the state of this planet?

  9. Jay Wood says:

Please help. We are all creatures of God.

  10. YB Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, Bornean Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment: People trusted you and voted for you. Are you not supposed to listen to them now and use your power to protect the orangutans which are in extremely high risk of extinction in the wild?????????
Are you and your “administration people” not aware that Bornean orangutans are now officially listed as “critically endangered??????????????
Thanks to this WORLDWIDE PETITION, we are demanding that YOU take the proper action and LEGISLATE against poachers and hunters. Furthermore, we demand that you protect the orangutans’habitat from the destruction caused by the deforestation of GREEDY companies. Your next move regarding this horrible situation is being watched by millions of people.

  11. I went to Borneo about 10 years ago to see it’s unique flora and fauna but as we were driving through the countryside all I could see were oil palms, as far as eye can see. Very sad and disappointing. Eventually I got to see the real jungle and the wild life, which is absolutely amazing, though saw only one orangutan in the wild. If all the jungle will be destroyed and the wild life with it Borneo will lose all the tourist business, maybe they could think at least about that side of the coin, people don’t go there to see oil palm plantations and treeless plains.

  12. Please strengthen protections for critically endangered orangutans?
Please save all your precious Wildlife from the hands of the GREEDY and Blood murdering human species?

  13. Please save orangutans

  15. Janis Hargreaves says:

As usual leave it to the useless humans to only worry about their selfish greed!!!! Do they not remember the orangutans were there first. One wonders when you see all the destruction and cruelty on this earth why we needed so called civilization as we are so removed from that it is a joke.

  16. Despicable people. How about birth control for the citizens? There is only one species that threatens the planet and there are too many of us. (I decided in high school not to add to the problem). Greed, selfishness, stupidity, laziness, arrogance – all traits belong to humans and no other species. We are the problem, not the natural world.

    • YOU won’t add to the problem by having children because I am sure you would raise your children properly. Problem is that good people are not having children and we are being overrun by Kardashians and Honey Booboos. These evil people think it’s their right to kill innocent creatures in the name of “sport” and for fancy eyelashes.

  17. Daniela Bress says:

Oh, what a vicious, greedy, ignorant, destructive and worthless society we are – using, torturing, killing living beings for profit and questionable entertainment and destroying every ecological balance around us, just for our damn human GREED – I’m extremely disgusted by my own useless species!

  18. We need our rain forests — we need our orangutans — we need our wildlife — it’s immoral, cruel & unconscionable to have our orangutans & other wildlife undergo such suffering, abuse & death — our planet needs our natural environment — DO THE RIGHT THING & protect our orangutans, our wildlife & their natural habitats.

Like us humans, they want to live — they have every RIGHT to live.

  19. Marsha Squibb says:

Please please save these wonderful, intelligent creatures!!No palm plantations!!!!!
