Tell Taco Bell to Stop Endangering Customers’ Health

Target: Brian Niccol, CEO of Taco Bell

Goal: Tell Taco Bell to use antibiotic-free and hormone-free meat.

With more chain restaurants making the effort to use free-range meats in their recipes, it is still disheartening to see many popular brands continuing to rely on hormone-filled meat products. Taco Bell is one of these brands, much to the disappointment of many.

Taco Bell prides itself on providing fast, cheap meals. They advertise all manner of combination meals and specials, appealing to the on-the-go or late-night crowds looking for a quick fix rather than a healthful, wholesome meal. However, that is hardly an excuse for using low-quality, hormone-laced beef and chicken. Fast food may not be intended to be wholesome fare, but even those looking for a quick meal on the go should not have to contend with dangerous amounts of hormones and antibiotics in their burritos.

Like many fast food chains, Taco Bell does offer healthier options. Examples include their al fresca menu (in which the cheese on their tacos is replaced with a flavorful tomato salsa) and their Cantina Menu featuring whole black beans rather than the usual refried beans. But like other restaurants that have yet to make the switch to organic meat, these options cannot be truly considered healthy when the meat used is infused and injected with dangerous additives.

Meat laced with antibiotics and hormones is also the product of cruel factory farms, on which the animals are horribly mistreated and killed inhumanely. Free-range and grass-fed meats are not only healthier for human consumption, but are more ecologically friendly.

Sign this petition to demand healthier, higher-quality meat from Taco Bell.

Dear Mr. Niccol,

Please start using antibiotic and hormone-free meat in your recipes. Hormones and antibiotics found in meat are responsible for many health problems and linked to certain cancers in consumers, and the animals injected with these substances are horribly mistreated in other ways. Organic meat is not only healthier for consumers, it tastes better and the animals are treated more humanely.

Your menu has already taken a step towards appealing to the health-conscious with fewer calorie-filled items, but the only way for them to be truly healthy is to prepare them with free-range chicken and grass-fed beef, free of the chemicals and hormones that harm not only the animals but the consumer as well.
