Demand Justice for Seal Pup Killed After Being Removed From Home

Target: Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson

Goal: Find and punish those responsible for the euthanization of a young seal pup.

A seal pup was carried off a beach in Washington and later euthanized after falling unconscious. The death of such an innocent creature must not go unpunished. Though the individuals who removed the pup believed it to be in danger, this was clearly not the case. Seal pups often come to the shore to rest or wait for their mothers and are not in distress or danger.

As seen in the recent incident involving a bison, human intervention is almost always unnecessary and causes more harm than good. When young animals are touched and taken by humans, the risk of their parents abandoning them is incredibly high. Tourists and locals alike often fail to realize that wild animals are far more independent than human infants and do not require the same level of support and care.

Regardless of the individual’s intentions, they must be punished for causing this pup’s death. This is not the first instance of a young seal dying this year, and further deaths must be stopped. Sign the petition below and demand justice in this unfortunate incident.

Dear Mr. Ferguson,

I am writing in regards to the recent death of a seal pup after it was removed from a Westport beach in a shopping bag. Though the seal was removed with good intentions, the individuals who carried this animal off caused its death and must be punished.

This is not the first high-profile case involving the euthanization of a young wild animal, and action must be taken to prevent further tragic deaths. Please investigate this matter and hold the individuals who inadvertently killed this animal accountable for their actions.
