Target: Lando Voyles, Prosecuting Attorney for Pinal County, Arizona
Goal: Demand harsh punishment for man accused of hanging a dog by its hind legs, causing severe injuries.
A man is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly hanging a puppy by its hind legs and leaving it there for an extended period of time. The man claims that this abuse was some form of training, and the dog was not hurt. Despite this, animal control officers observed that the dog’s hind legs were injured so badly that it could not walk.
Authorities were alerted to the scene by a neighbor, who heard the 6-month-old Australian Cattle Dog whimpering. After looking through the fence, the neighbor claims to have seen the dog hanging upside down by a rope. When deputies arrived, they found the puppy cowering inside a horse pen, clearly injured and unable to walk.
The owner relinquished custody of the dog to animal control officers, who brought it for medical attention. Injuries documented included severe swelling and rope marks on the hind legs. The dog, now nicknamed Spur, is recovering well and could soon be adopted into a forever home.
The fact that the accused calls this torture “training” is reason enough for him to be banned from pet ownership. This man clearly does not know how to responsibly train and take care of a pet. Sign the petition below to demand that if found guilty, he is punished to the fullest extent of the law and banned from owning animals in the future.
Dear Mr. Voyles,
A man accused of hanging a 6-month-old puppy from its hind legs is facing animal cruelty charges. A neighbor investigating whimpering sounds saw the young Australian Cattle Dog with its hind legs tied up with a rope. Though the owner claims that he was training the dog and no injuries were caused, animal control officers found the dog unable to walk, with its hind legs swollen and marked by rope.
This is torture, not training, and it is clear that this man is incapable of responsible pet ownership. For the pain that he caused this innocent animal, we demand that he is punished to the fullest extent of the law. Furthermore, in order to prevent him form committing similar acts in the future, we ask that you seek to ban him from animal ownership in the future.
