Target: Kenneth Lewis, Assistant State Attorney for the State of Florida
Goal: Apologize for offensive comments about Orlando shooting.
A prominent attorney in Florida has been suspended after allegedly posting extremely offensive comments about downtown Orlando. Kenneth Lewis, an assistant state attorney, made his comments shortly after the deadly shooting at the Pulse nightclub.
In his alleged comments, Lewis describes downtown Orlando as “a melting pot of 3rd world miscreants and ghetto thugs.” Lewis continued his rant by insulting those who attend Orlando nightclubs, saying “All Orlando nightclubs should be permanently closed. With or without random gunmen they are zoos; utter cesspools of debauchery.”
Though Mr. Lewis is welcome to his own opinion, he is also a high-ranking attorney working for the state, and making such offensive comments in the aftermath of a tragic event is unprofessional and reflects poorly on Florida’s image. Sign the petition below to demand an apology for these insensitive and cruel comments.
Dear Mr. Lewis,
I am writing to express my shock and anger at your alleged comments concerning the Orlando shooting. While the city was still reeling from the deadliest shooting attack in the country’s history, you saw fit to refer to the city as a collection of “miscreants and ghetto thugs.”
While I respect your right to your opinion, you are an employee of the state and your behavior should reflect that. Your decision to criticize and demean those who were so tragically killed is insensitive at best and cruel at worst. Please apologize for these offensive remarks.
