Target: Ken Paxton, Attorney General of Texas
Goal: Ensure that the man who reportedly killed a turtle with a hammer is charged with animal cruelty and banned from wildlife parks.
A man was reportedly caught on camera crushing a turtle’s shell and head with a hammer while a small group of people stood around him, pleading with him to stop. The hateful, hammer-wielding monster, identified as 57-year-old Terry Washington, was seen removing the hammer from his pocket and swinging it high above his head, clearly intending to do as much damage as possible to the innocent animal. According to the witness who filmed the horror, Washington then dragged the turtle by its tail under a bridge. Reports say a trail of blood can still be seen leading to the turtle’s carcass.
Game wardens from Texas Park and Wildlife, where the alleged murder occurred, charged Washington with hunting non-game wildlife without a license and illegal dumping of wildlife resources, both of which are only class C misdemeanors. Reports say officials are still trying to determine a motive, but there should be no excuse for this senseless violence toward a small, helpless animal. Please sign this petition to demand that police get involved and add animal cruelty to this turtle murderer’s charges to ensure that he is banned from visiting wildlife parks.
Dear Mr. Paxton,
A turtle was reportedly killed by a man who cruelly smashed its shell and head with a hammer, then dragged it by the tail and left it under a bridge. According to outlets, police have yet to take action so he’s only facing two misdemeanors issued by game wardens at the moment.
This is a malicious, violent, and dangerous individual who has no business around animals. We urge you to protect innocent wildlife and ensure that this man is banned from wildlife parks and charged with animal cruelty.
