Justice for Black Girl Dragged By Her Neck With Rope

Sad Black Child

Target: Live Oak Classical School Board of Directors

Goal: Compensate family of young black student who was allegedly severely bullied, including being dragged to the ground with a rope around her neck.

A black family is suing after their daughter was allegedly brutally attacked by white students who had been bullying the 12-year-old girl for months without intervention from the school. According to reports, the student was attacked from behind by three boys who threw the rope around her neck and yanked her backwards, dragging her on the ground. The aftermath is a long, jagged scar across the girl’s throat.

Staff at the Live Oak Classical School have reportedly failed to intervene in the bullying, and the girl’s mother said that the bullying became worse after her daughter reported it to the administration. Even after this brutal and dangerous assault, the school appears to have dismissed it as an “accident.” For this failure to take action in the face of ongoing and escalating bullying and harassment, the Rougely family is suing the school for $3 million.

Failure to do anything to stop bullying is a serious problem in schools across the nation and have resulted in deaths from injuries and suicide. The problem is even worse for girls and children of color, whose complaints are often dismissed and the actions of their often white male bullies excused with a callous “boys will be boys.”

Boys need to be held accountable for their actions or their violent behavior will never change, and victims of bullies need to be protected before something like this happens. Sign our petition to demand that the school compensate the Rougely family for the amount sought and commit to stopping bullying as soon as it’s reported.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Board of Directors,

The recent incident involving a 12-year-old student of yours allegedly being yanked to the ground via a rope slung around her neck by white boys is highly disturbing. The only thing more troubling is the school’s response to this violent act and its failure to do anything to stop the ongoing bullying that this young black girl has been reportedly experiencing for months under the watch of the administration.

It’s hard to believe that something like this could have been an accident. The visible signs of her injury certainly make it look like something intentional and violent happened. It’s also telling that not only did this girl report be bullied in the past, but her mother says the bullying only became worse after the report was made.

This paints a picture of a school that did nothing in the face of racial bullying and refuses to hold violent white boys accountable for their actions. We demand that you provide the girl’s family with the amount of money they’re seeking and pledge to craft an administration that stops bullying rather than ignores it.

Sincerely,

Throw these little pos white trash in juvenile detention for a few years! Maybe that will teach the little creeps a good lesson! Just for the record, I’m white!

  3. Karen Remnant says:

Throwing a rope around her neck was not a bloody accident!!!
Maybe if the staff had to pay the damages they might protect children in their care in the future!

  4. Schools need to step up and protect ALL children from bullying.
The bullies need to be held accountable and spend some time in jail or juvenile.
If a school allows bullying to continue and knows its going on the principal and teachers involved should also have to serve jail time.
Bullying is never a accident and no one deserves to be treated badly or picked on daily.
I don’t give a shit if the person is black, white, pink, or green we are all equal and should be treated as such.

I think those lil white boys should have their asses tore up, first for the bullying second for hitting/hurting a female.
Obviously they are not getting proper parenting if they think its OK to assault a female and that bullying is OK.
The school and the bully’s parents should both be paying the poor girls family.
For the record I am white.

    ALL lives MATTER!
    WE are ALL equal.
    HATE serves NO purpose.
