An innocent man was shot and killed by a police officer after a mistaken address turned into a deadly confrontation. David Powell of Stockbridge, GA was gunned down by officers responding to a call, and such a senseless and unnecessary killing cannot go unpunished.
Powell was in his home late at night when Henry County officers arrived outside, who targeted the wrong address and approached Powell’s home by mistake. Powell went outside to investigate the commotion, armed with a gun, and was quickly shot by an officer. Powell was then taken to a hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
At a time when police shootings are in the national spotlight, this latest incident is yet another instance in which a citizen is unjustly murdered by a police officer.
