Target: Crystal Raub, of the Boone County Council
Goal: Obtain funding to set up proper facility to care for lost and abandoned pets across the county.
Council funding is urgently needed to help care for and rehome countless lost and abandoned pets in Boone County, Indiana. As of now, homeless animals in this county must rely on the kindness and generosity of local residents to receive care and veterinary treatment, as the area does not have an animal care and control center. There are also no officers in charge of animal care, nor is there a shelter for housing stray and lost pets, despite every other surrounding county having such a facility.
Instead, locals have to volunteer their time and resources to care for, foster and rehome the animals. They are also the only ones to take injured animals to the vet and must foot the bill themselves. Recently a lost beagle was a hit by a car and never claimed by her family, so volunteers had to pay the $1,000 medical bill from their pockets.
Boone County urgently needs to step up and allocate funds to care for local strays. Sign this petition asking Boone County officials to set up a suitable animal care facility to house animals in need.
Dear Ms. Raub,
Lost and abandoned animals in Boone County reportedly have no place to go to receive protection and care, due to the lack of a shelter or animal care facility. Instead, pets in need are relying on the kindness and financial generosity of local volunteers who rescue the animals themselves and foot their expensive vet bills.
County officials must urgently step up to care for local strays and lost pets. Please allocate funds to creating an animal care shelter and department to rescue homeless animals in need.
