Target: Sean Reyes, Attorney General of Utah
Goal: Close university lab for allegedly violating the Animal Welfare Act and punish staff for severely abusing animals.
Severe animal abuse is reportedly occurring within a building that serves as a lab for the University of Utah. A monkey was allegedly burned so severely during a surgery that he had to be euthanized. Jeremy Beckham, the Director of the Utah Animal Rights Coalition and graduate of the school says the botched surgery was a consequence of lab staff negligence.
Beckham also said that the animals have holes drilled into their skills, coils stitched around their eyes, and screws mounted to their skulls. Then they’re restrained to a chair, staring at a screen for hours on end. The university was found in violation of the Animal Welfare Act twice, but only received a warning for their violence against animals.
This cruelty should never be accepted and it’s appalling that a university would be involved in such horrific levels of animal cruelty. Please sign this petition to demand that this evil lab be shut down indefinitely and the staff punished.
Dear Mr. Reyes,
The University of Utah’s lab reportedly violated the Animal Welfare Act twice after a monkey was severely burned and had to be euthanized. The horrific animal cruelty taking place behind those walls allegedly includes drilling holes into the animals’ heads, mounting screws onto their skulls, and stitching coils around their eyes.
Despite being found in violation of the Animal Welfare Act, the lab was only given warnings. We demand that this cruel, violent animal lab be permanently closed and the staff punished for the abuse, if guilty.
