Target: Paige Williams, District Attorney for the 97th Judicial District of Texas
Goal: Get justice for three-year-old boy allegedly murdered by his stepfather for jumping on the bed.
Dominic Tra’Juan Castro was only three years old. Most three-year-olds, like Dominic, are rambunctious and frequently resort to playing on furniture to expel their energy. So, it was just normal for Dominic to resort to jumping on the bed as a means to keep himself occupied. However, this normal behavior Dominic exhibited would ultimately be the last thing the young boy would do, as it resulted in him getting shot in the back of the head.
According to the boy’s stepfather, 18-year-old George Coty Wayman, young Dominic’s bed jumping ultimately led to him landing on the gun, which caused it to go off and send a bullet into his head. However, investigators said the evidence doesn’t match Mr. Wayman’s account of what happened. They also said that Wayman admitted to being frustrated with Dominic to the point where he pointed the gun at the child and threatened to shoot him if he didn’t stop jumping on the bed.
Mr. Wayman has been charged with capital murder for Dominic’s death. It is our hope that justice is served and this man finds himself held responsible for his heinous actions. A young, innocent life was savagely removed from the world, allegedly by a man whose intolerance of normal childhood behavior has left a mother grieving and a family shattered. Sign the petition and demand justice be served.
Dear Mrs. Williams,
A three-year-old boy was killed for jumping on a bed in his home. While the boy’s stepfather attests that the boy was responsible for his own death — jumping on the bed led to the boy landing on the gun, causing the gun to go off — investigators believe the evidence does not match the stepfather’s story. The investigators further allege that the stepfather threatened to shoot the boy if he didn’t stop jumping on the bed.
The death of this boy is tragic and the alleged conditions in which he died are heinous. Small children jump on furniture all the time. What gets a child reprimanded, say with a stern lecture or a nose in the corner, should not be handled in a way that results in a child’s death.
It is with this in mind that we urge you to make sure the stepfather, George Coty Wayman, is held fully responsible for his alleged actions. Whether he deliberately killed the child, Dominic Tra’Juan Castro, by shooting him or he was negligent when watching the child, the boy’s death is still on his hands.
