Don’t Force Camels to Give Students Rides for Entertainment

Target: Richard Myers, President of Kansas State University

Goal: End the live animal event that offers free camel rides to students.

Kansas State University (KSU) is planning on offering free camel rides to students in order to “get over the hump and de-stress before finals.”

Wild animals used in entertainment are typically confined to small cages for extended periods of time, neglected and abused in training. These camels deserve to be in the wild surrounded by other camel friends. Instead, they are transported to various locations to give people rides.

Sign this petition and demand KSU cancels the event using camels. There are other ways to entertain students that do not involve exploiting animals.

Dear Mr. Myers,

Your university is planning on holding an event that will be using live, wild animals. In order for the students to “get over the hump and de-stress before finals,” camel rides will be offered for free.

Wild animals used in entertainment face a variety of hardships including tight confinement, neglect and abuse. These camels should be in the wild, surrounded by camel friends and enjoying nature. Instead, they are being exploited for rides.

Please consider canceling your event using camels. There are many other ways to provide entertainment for students while not exploiting animals.
