Target: Anita Skop, New York School Superintendent
Goal: Reprimand bus driver who allegedly dropped off a disabled child at school an hour early without supervision.
An 11-year-old disabled child was allegedly dropped off by the bus driver in front of the school 40 minutes early and left all alone in the rain. The little girl has a rare birth defect that causes symptoms similar to autism, so her mother says it was just luck that she even made it to class safely.
It can be highly dangerous for autistic, or similarly disabled children, to be unsupervised. There have been cases in which the consequences have been fatal. For example, an autistic teenager died after slipping out of a public school and another was left on a school bus for so long that he died just last year. Sign this petition to demand that the bus driver be reprimanded for this dangerous, irresponsible behavior, if guilty.
Dear Anita Skop,
An 11-year-old with a disability similar to autism was allegedly dropped off almost an hour before class started by a bus driver. The child’s mother says the driver left her daughter unsupervised in the rain for almost an hour and she’s surprised she even made it to class safely.
Leaving children unattended like this can be deadly, especially when they have disabilities that can make it difficult to get help or stay safe. There’s no excuse for a bus driver to drop a child off at school 40 minutes before class starts. We urge you to see to it that the bus driver is reprimanded for this irresponsible behavior, if found guilty.
