Target: Richard Autry, Rockdale Public Schools Superintendent
Goal: Protect students by removing teacher who allegedly forced boy to hang from chalkboard by his belt.
A kindergarten teacher is accused of forcing a special needs boy to hang by his belt from the classroom chalkboard. According to the boy’s grandmother, the school principal heard screaming and entered the classroom to see what was going on when she discovered the boy hanging from the chalkboard. The teacher indicates that she was punishing the boy for misbehaving.
The Division of Family and Children Services is investigating the charges and learned during interviews with the boy that this isn’t the first incident. The school district reports that they’re disciplining two teachers and a paraprofessional who were involved in the incident.
Demand that this teacher is removed from her position and not allowed to work with children in the future.
Dear Superintendent Autry,
The principal of the Shoal Creek Elementary School reportedly found a kindergarten boy hanging from a chalkboard by his belt. The boy tells investigators that this isn’t the first time he’s been forced to hang there as punishment for his behavior. His grandmother says the boy has special needs and doesn’t always understand. The teacher claims hanging from the chalkboard is an effective punishment.
We demand that this teacher is removed from this school and banned from working with children in the future.
