Target: San Diego County Sheriff William D. Gore
Goal: Investigate the alleged torture and murder of homeless man George Lowery.
A pair of brothers stand accused of torturing and killing a homeless man in Santee, California after the man’s body was found in a riverbed. George Lowery was reportedly brutally beaten in an assault that investigators have described as “a very horrific event.” Lowery spent five days in a hospital before eventually succumbing to his injuries. Preston Mostrong, 19, and Austin Mostrong, 20, face charges including robbery, torture, kidnapping, and murder.
Making the incident more troubling are allegations that the attack was predetermined: Lowery’s family, as well as other witnesses, claim the murder came as retaliation for a previous altercation in which Lowery attempted to dissuade the brothers from bullying other homeless people.”We don’t believe this is a random act… We believe he was targeted,” said a representative from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
If these allegations are true, this crime is more than a senseless act of violence; it is a cold-hearted act of revenge on an innocent man. Sign the petition below and demand that Lowery’s killers be brought to justice and punished to the full extent of the law.
Dear Mr. Gore,
I am writing in regards to the recent murder of George Lowery, a local homeless man who was allegedly attacked, beaten, and murdered. According to Lowery’s family and other witnesses the murder came as retaliation for a previous altercation in which Lowery attempted to dissuade his alleged attackers from bullying other homeless people.
The homeless population already faces a daily struggle for survival; facing murderous attacks from violent bullies should not be a concern for them, or for anyone. George Lowery’s family deserves justice, and I urge you to please investigate this case and punish those accountable to the full extent of the law.
