Severely Punish Teens Who Sicced Dogs on Neighbor’s Cat

Target: Darwin Tobias III, Chief of Police, Shamokin, Pennsylvania

Goal: Demand jail time for two young men who allegedly commanded their dogs to maul a cat to death.

A young man has been arrested for animal abuse after reportedly commanding his dog to attack a neighbor’s cat. According to the police, the 17-year-old and his friend were walking their dogs when they saw the neighbor’s cat walking along the street. For no reason other than to be cruel, the teens allegedly released their dogs from their leashes and allowed them to hunt, corner, and brutalize the cat. A video of the incident shows the two teens looking on as the cat is mauled, making no effort to retrieve their dogs until a witness appears. The cat later died from its injuries.

One teen was arrested and charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility. Police are still looking for the other young man and the two pit bulls involved in the incident. It is possible that the dogs have been trained to fight and/or attack on command.

This cat suffered unimaginable fear and pain before its death. In order to protect both animals and humans, it is imperative that both the other teenager and the two dogs are found. Sign the petition below to demand that the police seek the maximum possible punishment under the law and that the dogs are taken away and re-homed to responsible owners.

Dear Chief Darwin Tobias III,

A young man was recently arrested in connection with the mauling of a cat by two dogs. The two young men, who were seen walking their dogs on a security camera, allegedly stood by after ordering the pit bulls to attack the cat. The dogs inflicted such severe injuries that the cat died after the attack.

Not only does this incident show a disturbing lack of empathy on the part of the teens, but it could indicate that the dogs are trained to fight or attack on command. If the dogs are found to be trained for violence, the owners should be slapped with additional charges.

This incident shocked the entire community of Shamokin. It is imperative that both teens are punished to the fullest extent of the law to ensure that they do not re-offend. We, the undersigned, ask that you seek the maximum possible penalty for both of the young men and remove the dogs from their custody.

  1. Both cruel, sadistic mongrels, murderers in the making.

  2. Rosemary Anderson says:

Teens seem to get away with doing anything they like these days so what does that say about the future of the human race. These sadistic backward morons should be punished as adults to the fullest extent of the law. Throw away the key.

  3. Nina-Maria Walker says:

    Punish these SICK MONSTERS !!!!!!!

  4. sandra mason says:

this HAS to be punished or people will NEVER stop.. I am also pissed off at the owner of the cat who did not protect her pet. when you adopt a pet you make a life long promise to care, love and protect it!!! the owner is just as much to blame. it was total negligence on her part. neglect is just another form of abuse!

  5. charles hall says:

good question.. where was the cat’s owner??? and what sort of disgusting people are the kids’ parents?? I never ever sign petitions to protect pit bulls.

    • Eleonora Oldani says:

You correctly put the blame where it belongs – all people involved. What do you blame the dogs for? That they didn’t “choose” more wisely their owners …?! Put the blame where it belongs: on the owners and protect the dogs from them!

  6. WHEN IS THIS GOING TO STOP! Is there not a prosecutor involved?

  7. todd fletcher says:

Sounds like this bitch needs a major ass beating!

  9. These so called juveniles are going to get through the loopholes of law to grow up into bigger monsters in future

  10. irene antonucci says:

they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law including probation to assure they will not engage in animal cruelty again This is NOT the fault of their dogs it was their deliberate intention and order for the cat to be killed violently
Was this an isolated cruel incident or are they training their dog needs to be investigated as well If the dogs are removed from them they should be removed to responsible individuals The teens and their parents should be mandated to go to counseling at their expense

  11. and this is how we get vicious animals. Not the animal but the moron holding the leash…

  12. They need to be incarcerated for a meaningful term. They need to have the dogs (yeah – slipped up there… You know that, when asked to produce the dogs involved, they’re going to go out and abduct the nearest possible matches)that they allowed to kill removed from them and their families/friends and assessed. They need to be banned, for life, from having any contact with animals (and probably children too). They need to go on a register for animal abusers/probable future human abusers and stay there for the rest of their lives.

In a perfect world – cat owners would have rescue cats and keep them safely indoors with all their needs and desires (apart from the desire to kill small wild animals)met. There is a chance, though, that the poor cat (involved here) had been kept like that but had managed to escape. If it wasn’t – I’m sure it’s owner will give serious consideration to the idea of having a strictly ‘house cat’ in future. For the welfare of cats, and the conservation of our wildlife, and the moral high ground – please give serious thought to keeping them indoors. They don’t mind it nearly as much as people think they do.

  13. Human feces should be eliminated from this planet ….

  14. Sickos like this shouldn’t be allowed to own any pet, nor should they be able to roam around freely. This horrible incident also underlines the better practice of keeping cats as indoor pets; they won’t be mauled by jerks’ dogs; they won’t become a meal for a wild animal; they won’t kill songbirds (it is shocking to read the number of birds killed by non-hungry cats); they won’t be picked up and kept by strangers. I have had cats most of my life and early on, decided they were just as happy as my indoor companions.

Prosecute those EVIL MONSTERS to the maximum extent! Throw those MONSTER BULLIES in prison and throw away the key! Those BULLIES have NO soul and NO heart. My heart bleeds for how this poor innocent little cat was horrifically tortured, abused and murdered. Those dispicable bullies MUST be punished severely because they WILL continue to torture and kill defenseless animals, then they will go on to abuse and possibility kill people! Animal abuse is very closely linked to murdering people! Those evil monster scumbags must pay for the extreme cruel torture and death this helpless cat suffered. There MUST be JUSTICE for this poor cat for the agonizing pain, disgusting torture and trauma she suffered and ultimate death. Sweet cat, I am so sorry; we (humanity) failed you. Rest in Heavenly Peace, Sweet Kitty; you are now in the tender loving care of Jesus. Kitty, you will not be forgotten. I am praying for your deserved justice. God Bless You, Sweet Cat.
