Target: Oan Kiri, Manager of Angkor Elephant Company
Goal: End elephant rides and retire all elephants at Angkor Elephant Company to an accredited sanctuary.
A 45-year-old elephant by the name of Sambo collapsed and died of a heart attack while giving two tourists a ride. The temperatures that day reached up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and the company decided to continue letting people ride the elephants.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for elephants to collapse while giving tourists rides. Elephant rides are cruel and unnecessary. Thirteen elephants remain at the company and it is time they are brought to a sanctuary before another dies.
Sign this petition to demand that elephant rides be put to a stop and that the remaining elephants are brought to an accredited sanctuary.
Dear Mr. Kiri,
Recently, an elephant named Sambo collapsed and died of a heart attack while giving tourists rides. The temperature that day reached a high of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Forcing elephants to work is already cruel and unnatural, but to make them work on such a hot day is even worse.
Elephants belong in the wild where they can roam free and be among other elephant friends. They should not be forced to walk in circles all day while carrying tourists.
Please consider ending the elephant rides and retiring your remaining elephants to an accredited sanctuary. If you truly care about these animals, then you know that bringing them to a sanctuary is what is best for them. Another could become injured or even die just like Sambo.
