Target: TripAdvisor CEO, Stephen Kaufer
Goal: Stop promoting cruel wildlife attractions to tourists for profit.
Famous travel website TripAdvisor continues to promote and sell tickets to some of the world’s cruelest animal attractions. This is despite numerous charities and organizations warning the company against promoting tourism experiences that are harmful to animals. One of them, World Animal Protection, estimates that over 550,000 wild animals suffer because of irresponsible tourist attractions promoted by TripAdvisor.
Animals used by these businesses are often taken from their mothers, brutally trained, forced to pose to take ‘selfies’ with tourists, and chained or confined for their entire lives. TripAdvisor should use its considerable influence to inform tourists of the cruelty that goes on behind the scenes in most wildlife attractions and help them choose activities that do not harm wildlife. The company must stop selling tickets to cruel wildlife attractions and ban these venues from its Certificate of Excellence and Popularity Index.
Sign this petition urging TripAdvisor to take urgent steps to help end the cruel abuse of animals in tourism.
Dear Mr. Kaufer,
TripAdvisor continues to promote and sell tickets for cruel wildlife attractions despite animals used at these venues being taken from their mothers when young, brutally trained and spending their whole lives chained or confined.
Please use your company’s considerable influence to curb animal abuse in tourism by warning users about the cruelty incurred on animals in most wildlife attractions and encouraging them to pick wildlife-friendly activities instead. I urge you to stop selling tickets for venues that abuse wildlife, namely via your subsidiary company Viator, and to stop cruel attractions from receiving a Certificate of Excellence ranked by the Popularity Index.
