Target: Karen Fischer, Executive Officer of the Dental Board of California
Goal: Shut down dentist who was sued for malpractice after a child died in his care.
Six-year-old Caleb Sears reportedly died after being given anesthesia by a dentist. Doucet, the dentist who reportedly administered the anesthesia, was sued for malpractice. The lawsuit states that his actions and response during the emergency “were inadequate and constituted incompetence, gross negligence and repeated acts of negligence.”
The Dental Board’s case says that Caleb stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest after Doucet administered the anesthesia. Despite this tragic incident, Doucet has been allowed to continue practicing dentistry even as the case to revoke his license is pending.
Allowing a dentist to continue practicing after a child died in his care, prompting an investigation and lawsuit against him, is irresponsible and unnecessarily puts other lives at risk. Demand that this dentist be shut down until he can be cleared of any negligence that may have played a role in Caleb’s death.
Dear Karen Fischer,
A six-year-old boy reportedly died after going to the dentist and being given anesthesia. The dentist has been sued for malpractice and faces serious negligence accusations. Despite the possibility that this dentist’s behavior resulted in the death of a young child, he’s been allowed to continue in his practice.
Unless this dentist can be cleared of any negligence, he should not be allowed to continue practicing when people’s lives could be at risk. We demand that his practice be shut down so that no more children are put in possible danger.
