Target: Pam Bondi, Attorney General of Florida
Goal: Fire university officer for allegedly firing gun on campus around hundreds of students.
A university police officer reportedly fired his gun outside of the campus library where hundreds of students stood, some only feet away. After police received a call about a “Middle Eastern gunman/woman,” they warned students via social media to stay away from the library, but later deleted the post. It wasn’t until after the site was cleared that the officer reportedly fired his weapon, then was seen putting the gun in his vehicle.
In his public statement, the police chief defended his officers rather than offering any explanation or apology for the terrifying shooting. He stated that they spend a lot of money and time on training to protect the community, but this officer failed at that and put hundreds of lives in danger.
If the police can’t refrain from firing deadly weapons around students, then they have no business being police. The students deserve security, including from their own police. Demand that this reckless officer be stripped of his badge, if guilty.
Dear Mrs. Bondi,
A university officer reportedly fired his gun on campus while students were nearby. The shooting occurred after the police received a call about a possible gunman and swept the area, deeming it safe.
While nobody was injured, this reckless, negligent behavior endangered hundreds of lives and that’s unacceptable. We urge you to see to it that this dangerous officer is fired, if guilty.
