Target: Michael Geier, Director and Chief of the Rio Rancho Police Department
Goal: Release gentle 10-year-old dog that has allegedly been kept by animal control for far too long.
A 10-year-old dog has been locked up at the pound for months despite the animal control unit allegedly having no legal right to keep him there. The American bulldog named Tiny is reportedly harmless and even plays nicely with his owner’s children. After reports that Tiny had gotten out and bitten a neighbor, animal control quarantined the dog and filed a petition deeming Tiny dangerous over a month after picking him up.
However, the city ordinance states that animal control only has 14 days to file such a petition. If they fail to do so within that time frame, they must “immediately release the dog to its owner.” Moreover, the animal control’s petition was dismissed by a judge, yet Tiny’s owners were not allowed to pick him up. This senior dog that has been locked up for over five months already does not deserve to be kept unlawfully any longer.
Sign this petition urging authorities to ensure that the animal control unit releases Tiny to his owners immediately.
Dear Chief Geier,
Tiny the senior American Bulldog has reportedly been locked up at the pound for months now. This 10-year-old dog named Tiny, whom his family claims to be gentle and harmless, has reportedly been languishing for over five months at the pound. Moreover, he is allegedly being kept there illegally.
According to media reports, animal control filed a petition to deem him dangerous far too late and failed to return him to his owners, as the law stipulates. The animal control unit’s petition was reportedly dismissed, yet Tiny is still locked up at the pound.
This senior dog has suffered from being caged in the pound for far too long. Please ensure that animal control urgently releases Tiny back to his owners,
